Mario P. Galea - Chairman

Mario P. Galea was the founder, Managing Partner and Chairman of Ernst & Young Malta until he retired in 2012.  Currently he serves as on a number of boards of directors, finance committees and audit committees in various positions.

Mr Galea is a certified public accountant and auditor, a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a Fellow of the Malta Institute of Accountants.

He has served as President of the Malta Institute of Accountants and held various other positions in the Institute, Federation des Comptables Européens (FEE) and the Accountancy Board, which is the regulator of the accountancy profession in Malta.


Joseph Fenech - Member

Mr Fenech, who is a non-executive director, is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants of the United Kingdom and a Fellow of the Malta Institute of Accountants. Mr Fenech joined the Corinthia Group in 1980 after having spent a number of years as senior auditor with a local auditing firm. His first appointment was as Group Accountant responsible for all financial and accounting matters of the Corinthia Group operations. Mr Fenech is the Managing Director of International Hotel Investments p.l.c., a Maltese listed company forming part of the Corinthia Group, and is also the Managing Director of Mediterranean Investments Holding plc.


Bassem Bitar - Member

Mr Bitar is Vice President responsible for strategy at the National Real Estate Company (NREC), a Kuwaiti publicly listed real estate and investment company with a presence in the Middle East and North Africa.

Prior to joining NREC, Mr Bitar occupied various senior positions with publicly listed real estate companies in Kuwait.

He was educated at the American University of Beirut, and has attended several executive courses at Stanford University and Harvard University.
